History of Larinx

Larinx.com started out in July of 2011. It immediately grew to a blog that was getting around 50,000 hits a month, mostly by closet android users who were upset by the content of the blog. After reaching ridiculous success, I was forced to abandon the blog as my web hosting service informed me that I was bringing down their server with all the traffic I was receiving. As such, I decided to move over to blogger and continue blogging here. As you can see, I've taken a new approach, and will include these rage comics whenever I get a chance, but also go back to writing the posts that got me so many hits back in the day as well. Enjoy!

The Problem With Android Fanboys

I've always wondered why Android fanboys were so passionate about their product.  I mean, Android is an amazing OS and has tons of features that iOS doesn't, but why does it have to be such a silly pissing contest between Android fanboys and iOS users?  One of the biggest culprits in perpetuating this "beef" is the fandroid blogs out there.  It seems with every mention of Android, Apple also has to be mentioned.

I wanted to make mention of a post on Droid-Life.  Yes, Droid-Life is a fandroid blog.  Run by fandroids, overcome with fandroids and fandroid crap all around.  But this post in question has got to be some of the most ridiculous spin I've ever seen.

First off, it's evident that the author is just pissed off at the truth.  Google simply does not make any appreciable amount of money from Android.  In fact, they make more money off iOS than they do Android.  It's a fact.  So why is Kellex so pissed off about this? 

He spins the story he's referencing by saying that Android just started getting popular at the end of 2009.  He spins it further by saying Android "really" didn't get popular till 2010-2011...huh?  Finally, he ties it all together by saying let's talk in 2015.  I mean...wth?

What Kellex is doing (other then proving he has no idea what he's talking about) is saying we shouldn't count Android's beginnings because "they didn't sell" but we should also just talk about it in 2015.  That's called working the numbers in your favor.  Let's forget the past, and the future, Kellex, and let's talk about the present.  Android has marketshare.  That's it.  That's all it has, that's all it will ever have.  Do you truly believe that Android will start making more money for Google then iOS does for Apple (or indeed, that iOS does for Google?)  LOL.

You can wait till 2015 all you want, but common sense would tell you that's not going to happen.  Android will never make as much money as iOS because the Android ecosystem is not built to make money for Google like that. 

Don't be so quick to call cultofmac.com a sucker site, Kellex.  Droid-Life.com is about as "sucker" as it gets when it tries to spin stuff like that!
